Mogadishu

This evening I went to see Luke Haines, formerly of bands including The Auteurs, Baader-Meinhof, and Black Box Recorder. He was very good.

I used to have a copy of that 'Vague' magazine.

Have you read Tom Vague's Televisionaries? It expands on the story, bringing it more or less up to date, including a bizarre incident where he tries to sell Astrid Proll a copy of Vague #20 at a bookfair.

I bought my copy in a lefty bookshop in Haight-Ashbury, they might still have some.

I haven't seen that, sounds fun. Intersting how powerful the Baader Meinhof imagery still is, e.g. those photos by Gerhard Richter.

My own particular favourite is the picture of Holger Meins (I think) being arrested. These two cops with the most 1970s-esque sideys are dragging this naked, moustached man by the arms, and he is screaming. Deadly stuff.

But yeah, I don't know what makes the RAF so iconic, although I recall that some of the lady RAF members look like hotties in the wanted posters.
