IRELAND'S UNTOUCHABLE CULT OF SATANISTS!

Indymedia is an internet media outlet characterised by the highest journalistic standards. Its writers are highly professional, and nothing is published there until the editorial staff have carefully checked it for the slightest inaccuracies. As a result, I feel we should take very seriously an article recently posted about a SATANIC CULT which is preying on children and teenagers in this very city.

"Some victims are killed with terrible methods. This terror induces the release of endorphins to the blood which is then consumed by Satanists to achieve a 'high'."

I expected better from you man. Indy bashing is so easy. It’s an easy target.

The story might be far fetched, but the information is well sourced from other media sources so it’s totally unfair to blame the indymedia website.

“Its writers are highly professional…”
As you well know, indymedia doesn’t have writers. Any member of the public can publish articles there.

“…and nothing is published there until the editorial staff have carefully checked it for the slightest inaccuracies”.
There are no staff – all eds are volunteers, and posts are published without moderation. They are only removed after publication if they are in breach of the editorial guidelines.

The quote you take from the site is not even from the article, but from one of the comments.

Yes, lots of absolute crap is posted on indymedia – I accept that, but blame the authors, not the site. Indymedia is an important resource as an alternative to the corporate media. Like blogging, it’s changing what people expect from the media, so that public interaction with the news is participatory rather than passive.

I know this is all very po-faced, and you’re just having a laugh, but this is nothing but a cheap shot.

You're right... all that endorphin stuff is in a comment. The article itself is very persuasive.

Why do I bother?
