That ladder in from of the window has been there since 1840.
Thanks Nicholas. That church is a crazy place, an interior decorator's nightmare as the different denominations control different bits of it and decorate it all in their own eccentric style.
My favourite story about the church is that ever since the Ethiopian Christians were fingered with starting some 19th century fire in the church, they have lost their bit of the inside and now live in stone huts on the roof of the Coptic bit.
